368 copies of John’s Gospel given away in Truro

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past week, you would have no doubt heard the sad news that Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II has died. In the week since her passing, the nation has been mourning, and for the first time in ages, many people are considering the truth that all of us will one day die. I saw this concern about mortality come into play several times today in Truro.

Due to family commitments, I didn’t make it into Truro until 2:30 pm. Upon arrival, I noticed that the city centre wasn’t too busy, so I thought that the outreach would be slow, but God had other plans. I decided that it would be fitting to hand out copies of the Queen’s Jubilee gospels that have been produced by the Pocket Testament League. I was supposed to distribute these back in June, however, due to my daughter facing a medical crisis, I was not able to hand them out. For many months, these editions of the Gospel have been sitting in my study, just waiting for the God-ordained time for them to be distributed – today was that day!

I had a total of 408 copies of John’s Gospel, and in my lack of faith, I didn’t believe I would be able to hand out many in Truro, but to my surprise over two hours, I was able to hand out 368 copies of the Gospel. It was incredible to see people from all walks of life, cultures, backgrounds, and ages taking the Gospel of John. Soon, many of these people were stopping to chat, with many of them expressing their desire to learn more about the God our Queen served.

A reoccurring comment I received today related to the Queen’s Christmas messages over the years. In those messages, the Queen would often speak about her faith in Christ, and her hope in the Saviour. These words of the Queen clearly impacted her people, because today many of them were speaking about Jesus.

Please pray for all those who received copies of John’s Gospel today; may people take up the Scripture and read it.

“But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” (John 20:31)
