A Hot Day in Winchester

There was a high heat warning for today, which made our Winchester outreach a little more challenging. Shade was limited, so much of our time was spent standing in the sun. The hot weather also made it harder to speak with people, as many were unwilling to stop in the sun to chat about the gospel. However, we still had a few good encounters.

As we prepared to pray before the outreach, Paul noticed a man sitting behind the open-air board, so he struck up a conversation with him. The man is a believer but is struggling. Paul was able to minister to him and pray for him. He also referred him to a good local evangelical church.

During this time, I was handing out tracts. As I did so, an older lady took one and said, "My father was a God-fearing man." She went on to share how her father was a lay leader in the Church of England, and how he was traditional and conservative. She said that, of all the people she had ever met, her father truly lived out what he believed. She then went on to say that she is more "spiritual" than "religious", but is considering the teachings of Christ.

We had a good chat about what Jesus teaches and the claims He made about Himself. The lady agreed that Christ was unique. At the end of our conversation, she took one of our in-depth tracts.

After this, we started the open-air preaching. I was the first to preach. Today, I spoke on "Are You Truly Living?" The last time I gave this talk, I felt it did not connect particularly well. Today, however, it seemed to resonate more. There certainly were not any large crowds, the heat made sure of that, but two people received copies of John's Gospel at the end.

Next up was Paul, who preached on "Warning: Six Deadly Lies." He did a good job engaging with common arguments and objections people have before pointing all who would listen to the Saviour. One man received a copy of John's Gospel afterwards.

Because of the heat, we decided to finish the outreach a little earlier than usual. We were a small team today, yet many people took tracts and several conversations took place. Little by little, the Kingdom advances. Please pray for all those who heard the good news.
