Newquay Evangelism: Little by Little the Kingdom Advances

The sun managed to break through the rain clouds this afternoon, so I thought it’d be good to head down to the town centre for a time of evangelism.

With it being half term the high street was busy with people eating pasties and enjoying the sunshine. Even though it was windy and cold I was able to hand out quite a number of tracts and have a few conversations.

The first conversation I had was with a family who actually visited Newquay Baptist Church this past Sunday. It was good to see them again and to encourage them. They are only here on holidays, but I hope the ministry of the Word impacted them during this visit.

While handing out tracts there was a brief period of a hail storm, which somehow opened a door for a conversation with two men.

One of the men was from Germany; he told me that to go to Heaven you just had to live your life. He also said that he was a Believer and that people should read both the Old and New Testaments (he was correct about Bible reading). I challenged his position and he took a gospel tract.

The other man told me he is a Roman Catholic which meant he didn’t know if he was going to Heaven. He said he hoped to get there one day, but he wasn’t sure. I pointed him to the Scripture to show that we can know with certainty. The man told me he doesn’t read the Bible, I told him that was his first mistake, at this point the German man chimed in to tell him that he needed to read both the Old and New Testaments. The Roman Catholic wouldn’t take a tract, but he said he has the Bible on his phone; I encouraged him to start reading it beginning with the Gospel of John.

As I began to head home I offered a tract to an African lady. She took the tract then asked which church I attended. When I told her I’m the new Pastor at Newquay Baptist Church she smiled and said she attends there whenever she isn’t working. Unfortunately the job this lady has requires her to work nearly every Sunday, and since she supports her family back in Africa she has to take all shifts. She went on to tell me how she misses hearing the Word preached; well, as God would have it, I had a CD by John MacArthur in my tract pack. I gave the CD to this lady who seemed to be very excited that she could listen to a sermon. I told her that I have a few other CDs I could give her if she would like them, she told me she would be in touch.

Please pray for all those who took tracts and were spoken to today. May the Lord Jesus save them all!

Also, please pray for gospel workers; we desperately need people to come to Newquay in order to help us in in our missionary efforts. Perhaps you could look for a way to visit us, or maybe you could ask the Lord if He would have you move here.
